In Memory of Tom Williams
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our President and devoted supporter, Tom Williams, on Sunday, 6th April 2025. Tom’s belief in the Chesil and its vision for transforming our historic building was an inspiration for us all. Before his death, he shared these words about our journey ahead.

We are excited to unveil the next chapter for Chesil Theatre: the creation of the New Chesil Theatre!
Our vision is to build a vibrant and inclusive community theatre that offers enriching opportunities for all to engage with entertaining and innovative performing arts. This mission is passionately supported by celebrated figures like renowned actor/directors Sir Kenneth Branagh and Sir Ian McKellen.
Chesil Theatre has been a cornerstone of top-class entertainment in Winchester for more than 150 years. Now, we're looking forward to an even brighter future with improved access, a light-filled entrance, community spaces, and overall enhancements. Your support will help us preserve the historic charm of Chesil Theatre while evolving it into a dynamic cultural hub for generations to come.
